I hope you enjoyed internals last week and you’ve had a great start to Week 3! It’s time for another update on all things debating-related.
Internals is on again this week, on both Tuesday evening (tomorrow) and Friday. And even better, there will be ice-cream again!!
When: 6pm Tuesday
Where: The Tank (near Copland Courtyard)
What: Training session, light dinner, and then a practice debate. This is for people who have had experience debating in the past! If you've done more than one year of high school practice, please come to this event. Don't worry, it's not high pressure, it's just for people who already know the rules.
When: 6pm every Friday
Where: Manning Clark Centre
What: A training session and dinner. If you've debated for one year or less, come along to this session. If you have more experience and still want to come, please send us an email or a message and we can talk about the most appropriate group for you to be in.
2) ANU PRO-AM GRAND SLAM
Our first weekend tournament is coming up this Saturday, 5th March! Grand Slam is an awesome opportunity for novice debaters to pair up with more experienced debaters and practice their skills. Check out the Facebook page for more information: https://www.facebook.com/events/192811667744476/
As Emily mentioned last week, we’re starting a women’s mentoring program this year. This is a great way for new female identifying debaters to meet older students they can get to know and ask questions of! It will be really fun, casual, and an awesome way to meet
If you are not new and you’re keen to be a mentor yourself then please fill out this form:
Additionally, if you aren't already part of the ANU Women's Debating Facebook group you should get on that! A lot of women’s specific information will be posted up there. You can join the group here:
And another cool thing, there is an ANU Women’s Debating Picnic coming up THIS FRIDAY at 3pm! It will be in Copland Courtyard, so come along for some food and a lovely afternoon!
As you can see, there is a heap of stuff happening at the moment – so be sure to get involved! See you sometime this week.
